Travian Launches Publishing Subsidiary

Munich-based developer Travian Games, which produces browser-based online games like Travian, has opened a new publishing subsidiary that will handle third-party projects.

Travian Publishing is meant to work with select developer teams, helping promote and monetize their projects. The company says its partners will be able to focus on their game's development and on-time completion, as it promises that their "publishing and profit-oriented promotion is in competent hands".

Established in 2004, parent company Travian Games has more than 160 employees and has released a number of free-to-play browser-based titles: Travian, Travians, Wewaii, Imperion, and several others. The company's games are available in 42 languages and are played by "millions of users worldwide."

Travian Publishing's CEO Florian Mller says the subsidiary has the potential to significantly boost the long-term success of independent developers' products. He notes that the firm will also give partners access to its global network.

"With the launch of Travian Publishing GmbH we can establish our third product-pillar next to the successful productions of our subsidiaries and our in-house teams," says Travian Games CEO Florian Bohn.

Bohn continues, "Many developers have already asked for a cooperation, which clearly shows that our philosophy of having fewer products but much more closely-supported partnerships is hitting the mark."
