CCP Releasing Free Incursion Expansion For Eve Online This November

Icelandic developer CCP Games announced plans to launch Incursion, its 14th free expansion for sci-fi MMORPG Eve Online, this November with various performance updates and new content.

The expansion's plot centers on "the escalating attacks of the deadly Sansha?s Nation, which is bent on instituting its own utopia and exacting vengeance against the pilots who stand in its way." Pilots can join public fleets to destroy the Sansha invaders and receive bounties/loyalty rewards/commendations.

Incursion will introduce many changes suggested by the Council of Stellar Management, a player-elected group that communicates concerns and requests from the user community to CCP. Those changes will include hardware upgrades, software updates, and new cluster components designed to increase game and fleet battle performance.

CCP will also renovate its character creator (new pilot portraits with CCP's Carbon character technology), NPCs and their AI, and Planetary Interaction system. As for new content, Incursion will add Sansha crafts (Mothership, Fighter, and Bomber), a Noctis salvaging vessel, loot and rewards, and storyline events.

EVEGate, the MMO's online social networking platform for pilots, will receive new forums meant to emphasize the importance of organizational and communication tools. The developer says this expansion seeks to enhance "the power of individual choice in the context of meaningful relationships with other players -- Eve?s true strength".

"Incursion marks a point where our PVE experience moves towards the co-operative roots of EVE and the largest introduction of our Carbon Technology platform to date. Never before have so many players and developers contributed to Eve?s living universe," says CCP's senior producer Arnar Gylfason.
